Cause:
A labral tear involves injury to the acetabular labrum — the cartilage ring that lines the rim of the hip socket (acetabulum). It often results from repetitive hip motion or twisting movements (commonly in athletes) and may occur in the setting of structural issues such as femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) or hip microinstability.
Symptoms:
Patients typically experience groin pain, sometimes accompanied by clicking, catching, or locking sensations. Pain is often worsened by hip flexion, rotation, prolonged sitting, driving, or rising from a seated position.
